Abstract

The aim of this presentation is to highlight the experiences and practices of Greek systemic therapists, which were cultivated for half a century. Theoretical conceptualizations, ongoing longitudinal research,clinical work with groups, families and individuals, community work and training of professionals, which were woven in the canvas of Greek history, have connected us to our cultural roots; to classical Greek thought as well as to the recent ever-changing socioeconomic and psychosocial patterns of family and community life. The wide lens view of an integrative frame of mind in the context of an experiential, dialogical and interactional approach has led us to ‘magic ands’, which can accommodate the multiplicity, plurality and fluidity of contemporary life into an inner sense of coherence and can promote constructive personal and collective purposes and commitments
