Judy Lombardi

Professor of sociology who dealt with "social" documentaries. Her latest video, "Living Cybernetics," is a film that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the American Society for Government.

 

Mary Catherine Bateson

American writer and anthropologist. A graduate of the Brearley School, Bateson is the daughter of Gregory Bateson. She is a well-known author in her field with many published monographs. He has taught at Harvard, Amsterdam and George Mason University, among others.

 

Abstract - Video 1

Judy Lombardi's "Living Cybernetics" is an exciting and well-made, two hour documentary about cybernetics and the American Society for Cybernetics, which celebrated 50 years of existence in 2014.

In this part of issue 34, the one hour of the original video is presented, edited by Fany Triantafillou. Also, some short video clips have been extracted and put in other parts of Metalogos depending on the subject.

Mary Catherine Bateson with her own warm and amiable style speaks about Cybernetics. Starting from the baby's cot or eventhe womb and arriving at the conflict in the Middle East, once more she presents the logic of separateness and antagonism and the logic of symbiosis and collaboration.
