Ilektra Bethymouti

Electra Bethymouti is a Psychologist and Systemic Therapist.

Specialized in Systemic Family Therapy & Social Constructivism’s Therapies, at the Universities of Salamanca and Barcelona.

She worked for ten years in the private and public sector in Spain, with people in prisons, people with psychosis living in Institutions or non-institutionalized, with people with special differences in supportive centers, and with people who suffered family violence. At the same time, she gave courses to professionals working in hospitals and institutions all over Spain, about how to break bad news, and how psychological interventions can be used instead of fixation.

She investigated the effectiveness of systemic family interventions in psychoses.

Trained in Crisis Intervention, she intervened with families of victims of mass disasters.

In Greece, the last ten years, she founded the Bienestar Center, where she works as a psychotherapist, trainer & supervisor in postmodern systemic approaches. She also works as a supervisor in the refugee crisis. As a constructionist, she is interested in the connections between the political-therapeutic and social practices, and she has published various articles about that.
